About Western Sydney University

Western Sydney University officially began its operations on the 1st of January in 1989 after the Hawkesbury Agricultural College and Nepean College of Advanced Education. While only officially a University since the late eighties, Hawkesbury Agricultural College was established nearly a century earlier in 1891. With seven campuses in the Greater Western Region, WSU proudly provides prestigious education to Sydney’s west. After a name change in 2015, from the University of Western Sydney to become Western Sydney University, WSU has reinstated its value and pride in the Greater Western Region and community of the West.

With nine schools of expertise, WSU provides study options in the following schools:

  • Business
  • Computing, Engineering and Mathematics
  • Education
  • Humanities and Communication Arts
  • Law
  • Medicine
  • Nursing and Midwifery
  • Social Sciences and Psychology
  • Science and Health

In addition, WSU has maintained its environmental focus through their Hawkesbury campus and are continuing to offer studies in agriculture. The Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment consists of research, publications, seminars and events and provides scholarship, internship and voluntary opportunities for students to further their experience in the field prior to heading into the workforce.

WSU provides an education that results in workplace ready graduates, with confidence in what they’ve learned to apply in their future endeavours.
